Neumann TLM 170

Newly acquired Neumann TLM 170’s. Most microphones at Schenk Studio are ‘character’ mics. They will add color or emphasize specific qualities in the recorded sound. Not these TLM 170’s. These are the studio’s first truly transparant microphones. The transformerless design combined with the famed k89 capsule makes it a very quiet and natural sounding microphone. Perfect for super quiet music, classical stuff, voice-overs and recording ASMR like sounds. And bass amps of course.

I will chime in some thoughts on the purple vs red badge issue in a later post. Or maybe I won’t.
